City Development

The City of Sedalia is economic development’s partner in strengthening west-central Missouri’s employment and retail base. Whether you are starting, building or expanding your business, the City of Sedalia is one of your first stops for information and requirements.  The Community Development Department is supervised by John Simmons, Community Development Director.  This department is your one-stop center for zoning and land-use requirements and building construction review, regulations and permits.  The Finance Department is supervised by Kelvin Shaw, Finance Director and issues merchant and business licenses.

Small Business & Technology Development

The Small Business and Technology Development Center at State Fair Community College provides confidential, no cost counseling and low cost training to entrepreneurs and small businesses. We assist from the business concept or idea, through growth and expansion, and also with succession planning. The SBTDC offers low cost trainings in areas of Business Planning, Marketing, Starting and Managing a Small Business, as well as other business specific trainings. Pettis County Health Center provides a variety of health maintenance and disease prevention programs to the entire community. Examples are: Women’s Wellness, (including Show-Me Healthy Women), Communicable disease follow-ups (including STD’s), maternal and child health services, the WIC program, environmental health services, and public health emergency response planning. Speakers are available to provide programs and health education on a variety of health related topics. Katy Trail Community Health (KTCH) is a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) in Sedalia and Warsaw. It offers quality and compassionate healthcare for all. KTCH provides primary health, oral health, and behavioral health services to residents of Pettis County and the surrounding area. Eligible patients can apply for discounted fees and the center offers discounts for most medications as well as discounts on lab services for patients who are uninsured. Translation services are available for patients with limited English capabilities.

The Walk In Clinic is available to help you Get Well, fast. Walk in for minor, or acute illness.

The Walk In Clinic is not for patients with emergency needs such as heart attacks, stroke or broken bones. Patients with these or similar emergency symptoms should still go to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Emergency Department located in the hospital at 601 E. 14th Street. The Walk In Clinic is not a primary care facility, so patients should also continue seeing their primary health care provider on a regular basis.

Schools

One of Sedalia’s greatest assets is its quality educational system. From the fully accredited Sedalia School District and quality parochial and private schools to a progressive community college, Sedalia has the facilities to meet the community’s needs.
